You could record your favourite views regularly to provide a portrait of a year in the village, Other ideas: adopt a footpath with photos of your favourite route; it’s a dog’s life gallery; in the saddle (bikes, motorbikes and horses) growers delights from gardens and allotments.
Our example banner picture was taken at the north end of Lode looking west into a fantastic sunset by Sophie Wilson (Pentax K10D, Sigma 18-50 EX f2.8, SR "on", ISO 640, 26 January 2008). From the same sunset, looking down the muddy track which leads to the disused railway line:  Submit a new banner picture or other photographs by email. A banner picture must fit into the 800x148 pixel format used on these pages, photographs for the gallery can be any shape but will be displayed inside an 800x600 pixel box. (This works out as 800x532 pixels (landscape) or 400x600 pixels (portrait) (for 3:2 aspect ratio) or 800x600 pixels (landscape) or 450x600 (portrait) (for 4:3 aspect ratio) - you can send any size of image that is larger than this if you wish.) You must have taken the photograph and enclose details when and where taken (plus any other details you wish displayed).
